Hi guys!
My name is Charlie/Spittles the Clown and I'm Diamanda's new assistant in New York. If you guys want to forward any info over to her, feel free to contact me. In case you don't know, she's been previewing material from her next CD here in NYC. The CD is slated to be titled "Chansons Noires". Her latest material for the Spiegeltent concert series here in NYC has featured songs made famous by Peggy Lee, Marlene Dietrich and Judy Garland--all with her own clever twist. And she most certainly loves all her fans!
Sincerely
Charlie/Spittles

Re: Diamanda's new assistant in NYC
Mon, November 13, 2006 - 8:15 PMHoly shit...
I'm a Montrealer that made his way out to Portland last fall and attended your spanking party/queer fetish night.
How the hell did you hook up with Diamanda? Any more North American/East Coast tour dates in the works?
cheers,

Wed, December 13, 2006 - 2:26 PMHey Mark!
What's happening? I haven't logged onto tribe in ages so sorry for the late reply...I actually grew up in NYC and came back home after living in Portland ofr almost 17 years. And yes Queer Fetish was fun....! I will be trying to get a similar gig here in Gotham this spring. Ms Galas and I had a friend in common and she needed a personal assistant and that's how things happen here!
Cheers!
Charlie

Re: Diamanda's new assistant in NYC
Fri, December 22, 2006 - 3:37 PMYou should get her to play Montreal. She'd be a hit for a variety of reasons:
-MTL is hella queer
-we're supposedly the most european of Canadian cities, and I know she goes over well across the ocean
-we have an international jazz fest every summer, which is one of the biggest in the world, as is my understanding. She'd rip 'em a new one...
If ever y'all look into coming here, let me know, I'll suggest some venues to look into.

Re: Diamanda's new assistant in NYC
Sun, January 21, 2007 - 8:07 AMI have been well, gracias. Just doing my MA. Which leads me to other ideas about how to get Galas to Montreal. Garth, who runs the mailing list, always suggests that people speak with their local arts community in order to get Diamanda to perform in their cities. I'm gonna see if I can drum up some grants or something perhaps. My university also has a great venue, the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall, which is supposedly acoustically incredible.
I needs me my thinkin' cap! -

Re: Diamanda's new assistant in NYC
Wed, July 11, 2007 - 11:41 AMUm.... wow. Do you know who Oscar Peterson is??? He is amazing... and in his way, a perfect compliment to Galas as you can hear, in his recordings, him humming along to himself. It's the strangest sound, but so soulful (and no, the man could barely carry a tune).
I would bet any concert hall named after him would have to be acoustically sound!
